Kelly Baker is a board-certified family nurse practitioner. She has a Bachelors of Science in Cellular, Molecular, and Physiological Biology from Christopher Newport University, a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Kelly is passionate about providing high-quality evidence-based care to help patients enhance their quality of life allowing them to spend time participating in the lifestyle they enjoy most. While her passion for caring for others started at a young age as a veterinary assistant at an urgent care clinic, Kelly’s healthcare career started in dermatology as a surgical assistant for two well renowned skin cancer treatment practices. After graduating with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 2017, she worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings as a Registered Nurse for several years, gaining valuable experience in general medicine and urology.

In 2021, Kelly decided to return to school to obtain her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree with a Family Nurse Practitioner concentration from Virginia Commonwealth University. While at VCU she was inducted into the Gamma Omega at-Large Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and Phi Kappa Phi. In her final year at VCU, she was instrumental in developing, implementing, and evaluating an interdisciplinary referral process and clinic for patients who are excluded from a kidney transplant due to obesity.

Kelly is a member of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners, the American Nurses Association and is a Certified Lifestyle coach through the CDC’s Diabetes Prevention Program. Outside of work, Kelly enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and adopted canine, Benjamin.
